Missing notifications break the whole chain: approvers don't know there's a request, employees don't know their shift changed. Almost every case is caused by settings on the phone itself, not by Tanca.
Check in this order
- The app's notification permission. Go to your phone's Settings, find the Tanca app, and turn on notifications. This is the cause in most cases.
- Battery saver mode. Android phones often automatically put rarely used apps under background restrictions, causing notifications not to arrive or to arrive late. Set Tanca to unrestricted.
- Do Not Disturb or Focus mode. Check whether it's turned on by a schedule.
- Logged in on multiple devices. Logging in on a new device can stop the old device from receiving notifications. Decide which device you actually want to receive them on.
- App version. Update to the latest version, then reopen the app once.
After changing settings, fully close the app and reopen it — don't just switch to another screen. The app needs to restart to re-register its notification channel.
Differences between the two operating systems
| Item | iPhone | Android |
|---|---|---|
| Where to enable notifications | Settings › Notifications › Tanca | Settings › Apps › Tanca › Notifications |
| Common platform-specific cause | Scheduled Focus mode | The manufacturer's battery optimizer |
| After changing settings | Reopen the app | Reopen the app; some devices need a restart |
Chinese phone brands — Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme — have an additional background management layer on top of Android's standard settings. If you've enabled everything and still don't receive notifications, look for the autostart or background management option in the phone's security settings and allow Tanca to run in the background.
When it's not a device problem
| Sign | What it means |
|---|---|
| Only one type of notification doesn't arrive, while others do | The configuration of that notification type, or you're not in the recipient group |
| Many people at once aren't receiving notifications | A system-side incident — contact support immediately; don't have each person check their own phone |
| Notifications arrive but are hours late | Almost always battery saver mode |
| Notifications show in the app but there's no sound | The notification sound channel is turned off in the phone's settings |
How not to miss anything while waiting for a fix
- Open Tanca in a computer browser and check the pending approval list directly on the Dashboard.
- For approvers: make a habit of opening Requests twice a day instead of relying on notifications.
- For administrators: when you know someone isn't receiving notifications, tell them directly through an internal channel instead of assuming they've seen it.
