Employee | Registering for Shifts and Requesting Shift Swaps

If your company lets employees choose their own shifts, you register right in the app. And when something unexpected comes up, a shift swap request is the only way to make sure working hours are credited to the right person.

If your company lets employees choose their own shifts, you register right in the app. And when something unexpected comes up, a shift swap request is the only way to make sure working hours are credited to the right person.

Registering for shifts

  1. Open the Tanca app and go to Work Schedule.
  2. Switch to the week that is open for registration.
  3. Available shifts appear as open shifts — tap the shift you want to take.
  4. Confirm your registration.
  5. Wait for your manager's approval. Approved shifts will appear in your schedule.

Shift registration has a deadline. Your company sets a day of the week as the lock point; after that, you can no longer make changes. Ask your manager about your store's lock point.

Three limits to know

LimitMeaning
Number of weeks you can register in advanceYou can only see and register within the range of weeks your company allows
Maximum shifts per weekRegistrations that exceed the limit will be blocked by the system
Job title and branchYou only see shifts intended for your own job title and branch

Requesting a shift swap

  1. Go to Requests in the app.
  2. Select a request type in the Shifts group — the exact name depends on what your company has set.
  3. Select the shift to swap and the replacement person.
  4. Clearly state the reason, then submit.
  5. The replacement person confirms their agreement.
  6. Your manager approves. Once approved, both people's schedules update automatically.

Swapping shifts verbally or through private messages has no effect in the system. You will still appear as the person on that shift, and if you don't clock in, you will be marked absent. Always submit a request, even if you have already reached an agreement with your coworker.

How far in advance to submit

Each company sets its own deadline, usually 24 to 48 hours before the shift starts. If you submit too close to the shift, your manager won't have time to approve it or to find a replacement if the request is rejected.
