Two additional methods, each solving a specific problem. Both are toggled on and off right on the Settings › General screen.
Clock in on a computer
- Employees clock in directly in the browser, without opening the app.
- Suitable for office employees who sit at a computer all day, and for people who don't want to install the app on their personal phone.
- Turn on the Clock in on computer toggle in Settings › General.
Clocking in on a computer makes location harder to verify than the mobile app. If you enable it, consider combining it with WAN IP (article B6-04) to only allow clocking in when the computer is on the company network.
Offline clock-in
- Allows employees to clock in when there is no network connection.
- Data is stored on the employee's device and synced to the system when the connection returns.
- Suitable for warehouses, construction sites, areas with weak signal, or basements.
- Turn on the Offline clock-in toggle in Settings › General.
What to know when enabling offline clock-in
| Fact | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Data only arrives when there is a connection | The timesheet may be empty until the employee enters an area with signal |
| The recorded time is the device's time | If the device clock is off, the data is off too — remind employees to turn on automatic time sync |
| The employee uninstalls the app before syncing | Unsent data will be lost |
| Finalizing working days at the end of the period | Wait long enough for offline data to arrive before finalizing |
Two related toggles
- System automatically clocks out the next day — useful for night shifts and for places where employees often forget to clock out.
- Shift suggestions — employees without a shift will be suggested a suitable shift when clocking in, reducing the number of clock-ins not tied to any shift.
